Anya pulled up to the drive-thru window, trying not to shake as she paid by card and waited for her food. She'd started salivating the moment the golden arches had come into view, and looking over the menu only worsened the torture. She was starving. Still, she'd been good. Only one meal, no extras. A single big mac, fries and a Coke. It was still hardly health food, but it was leaps and bounds better than the feasts she normally indulged in when she had fast food. No, this was different. Mr Robinson had been scouting the hallways and outdoor areas of the high school looking for anyone willing to join the extracurricular rugby group, his team was falling short recently and needed some new members. He caught the eye of Jim, a slightly chubby guy who just happened to pass him. “Me? Oh, no I-I don’t think I’m the right fit for rugby.” Jim stuttered. Robinson eyed the guy up and down, Jim had a rather stocky build, he was wider than the average guy at school, he wasn’t fat per se, he just had more of a naturally bigger frame than most. A little gut and chunky legs wouldn’t be the worst for a rugby player, if he bulked up a bit, he’d have potential. “Try it out anyway, you never know, you could be a big rugby star in the making.” Mr Robinson said playfully. Sara entered the party confidently. She was looking forward to getting out the mundanity of her own routines for a bit, and this seemed just the way to do it. The sound of cheesy dance-pop music filled her ears as she stepped in, and she couldn't stop herself from giggling at the sorry dancing of some of the other guests.
She frowned as she noticed that she didn't really know anyone else there. And, even worse, she didn't see any guys. It wouldn't be too easy to be social here, but she'd try. To her relief, it wasn't long before a very thin, very pretty girl with red hair came up to Sara and spoke.
"Hi," she said, "I'm Alex!"
